Just 10 kilometres from the CBD, Maroubra is a sunny suburb of the Eastern Sydney beaches. 

The traditional owners of the land are the Gadigal and Bidjigal people. Maroubra is a local Aboriginal word meaning place of thunder, referencing the crashing waves for which the suburb is famous.

Sand, surf and sun are a staple in the "Bra."

Maroubra Beach is a family favourite, with plenty of opportunity to enjoy the water, but also the playground and skate park right on the promenade.

It was named a National Surfing Reserve in 2008,  and Maroubra’s famous waves cruise up along a one-kilometre-long stretch at Maroubra Beach, the longest beach in the eastern suburbs. 

Maroubra’s streetscape is a mixture of shops, restaurants, trendy cafes, apartment blocks and properties that match the beachy lifestyle.
